It’s just been really cool to see all the different collaborations that can happen. You know, I’ve gotten to have a full choir on my piece, I’ve gotten to do percussion, voice parts in other people’s pieces… And I think it’s been just really wonderful networking and I think it’s been really bonding for us as a group.

This course just covers everything… You know, a very technical course talking about all sorts of crazy recording techniques. You make the music that you want. And Cory helps you make it happen. And, on top of that, Cory helps you figure out how to actually become successful in the music industry, and that is just something so unique to this course that I have’t seen anywhere else. And Cory just does it in such a fun and engaging way that I couldn’t recommend it more.

My highlight honestly has to be the studio. Like, the studio itself. The soundproofing, and the sub, it’s so good, and the speakers… Being in that studio was incredible. To hear everybody’s music, and how crisp and clear… It’s… It’s amazing.

Well, me personally, I definitely say meeting all the people from all kinds of different backgrounds and all kinds of different experiences, and having them come together to create a project like this. Not just the networking, but making genuine friends and just seeing all the talent. You don’t get a kind of listening experience like that anywhere else. It’s very inspiring in my own craft as well. It pushes me to go forward.

I think what makes this Workshop really unique is we make an album at the end of every Workshop. It kind of sounds insane, once you think about it: A whole album gets done in such a short amount of time. But it’s amazing how everybody rallies and makes it happen.

I have attended the Recording Arts Workshop at Stanford for the last three summers, and I’ve been fortunate enough to bring students from the college to participate in the program as well. The students who’ve attended the Workshop have been incredibly inspired to continue to create their own music and to find careers in the industry as well. This Workshop has also inspired and equipped me to create a new degree at Pikes Peak State College. It’s music audio technology and it launches this fall.

There’s a very, very diverse range of music we’re making here. Not just in the traditional sense you might think of, like rock versus rap… More of a sense of there’s a very broad range of different artistic tastes. And it’s very inspiring to kind of work with that…

Your workshop is doing something, Cory… I’m learning!

And he won’t stop singing We Are The World at the end of every session… We Are The World!… Yeah.
Camille Noufi
I also have to add that Cory stopped being funny about halfway through the first day…
