Diversity” opens the journey with an elegance and warmth that envelops you from the first second; it is an immersive story that seems taken from a movie, where you can imagine every detail, every landscape, every element that comes to life when it sounds, as if you were entering a new world full of wonders.

A lot of what I do is trying to live up to the promise of my father, my brother, and my best musical friend in my teens Mark Van Horn, who also died young of a brain tumor like my brother. I don’t know why I’m around and they’re not. But I do know that I’m gonna make it count, and I’m gonna do it partly in their honor. They’d be doing it with me. I’m doing it without them. I’ve always felt slightly alone without them. But I’m doing it. And I’ve created an amazing — amazing — family of my own with a brilliant wife and two brilliant daughters.

It’s time because I’ve released a lot of Doctor Noize material I’m deeply proud of, and I am at an inflection point in my career where I’ve decided I’m going to tilt the balance of what I do more toward adults as Cory Cullinan than kids as Doctor Noize. I’ll still be playing shows and releasing (less) music as Doctor Noize. But I’ll be doing even more releasing music as Cory Cullinan for adults, teaching Recording Arts at Stanford in the summers, serving as Chair of the Board or the recording program at Pikes Peak State College, writing a book, releasing a mystery musical pretty soon, and taking more time to learn and listen again.

Such a wonderful moment in time.

I think it’s important to remember that we are all end users for one another. As we listen to each others’ aspirations, we’ll focus less on the limitations and be inspired to remove barriers to unlock opportunity.

I knew this song was something special as it was all coming together, especially working with such talented artists as Vivian Fang Liu and Cory Cullinan. Rhythm of Asia won a Bronze Medal in the Global Music Awards — thank you to them for the honor!

The production is completely immersive. Every nuance, every texture, seems to respond to a different emotional state: confusion, hope, anxiety, resilience… And yes, it feels like a generational conversation in musical form.
